Oct 28 - So You Built a Kubernetes Platform, Now What? Achieving Platform Economics with Kubernetes

The ecosystem that’s developed around Kubernetes is astonishing, if not overwhelming, as demonstrated by the 99 projects hosted by Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), and that’s just open source. According to 451 Research there are more than 80 commercial vendors in the container management and orchestration segment, with major growth in areas like monitoring and logging, DevOps and CI/CD, and data management to name a few*.

Because of Kubernetes’ portability, flexibility, speed, and infrastructure efficiency, many organizations are building their own Kubernetes-based platforms. But these DIY platforms fall short of delivering a good developer experience, leaving many developers stitching together various cloud services or components to get their code to production. This toil takes them away from writing code, fuels redundancy and inefficiency, and, worst of all, fails to add business value.

So, what’s an ambitious platform engineer to do? How do you build a great, self-service developer experience on Kubernetes? And how do you make it safe, scalable, and consistent?

Join James Urquhart, Tanzu executive technical advisor, and Jay Lyman, senior research analyst for cloud native and DevOps at 451 Research, in conversation about what you’ll need to deliver a great application platform on top of Kubernetes.

It's Pronounced "DevOps." The "Sec" is Silent.

While automating DevOps processes has been a hot topic for a decade, software release streams are still slow and manual.

Late-stage security checks catch vulnerabilities too slowly; security architecture requirements can be hard to consistently enforce; on top of that, there’s an ever-growing concern over security breaches. That’s where DevSecOps comes in.

Three Essentials for Delivering Containers at Scale: A Real DevSecOps Approach

Your organization is committed to modernizing applications and that requires full adoption of containers. To manage the container lifecycle, from code to customer, you need to bring together several component technologies and operate across clouds. Despite the potential complexity, this is your chance to build a DevSecOps practice that can deliver better software to customers faster, and continuously.
