Welcome to KubeAcademy. I'm Hart Hoover and I lead the Kubernetes Instructor Team at VMware.

Today, we're going to be going through some Cloud Native Basics in a practical lab scenario. If you haven't watched our Containers 101 course or the Kubernetes in Depth course, it might be a good idea to check those out first before proceeding. The goal here is to take what you've learned so far and apply it to a real world environment.

There are two parts in this scenario. The first part, we will build a container image from a Dockerfile, test that image by running it as a Container, and then pushing that Container image to a Container registry. After that, we'll deploy the same Container to a Kubernetes cluster using deployment and service objects, and finally access it remotely. Let's get started.
